Meet Susan Houston
Susan is a pediatric speech-language pathologist with 20 years of experience helping children find their voices. She brings a wealth of experience to her work with children ranging in age from early intervention through school age. Susan has a passion for connecting with young children and their families – rooted in the belief that true progress is the result of collaboration between child, parent, and therapist. Sessions are always wrapped up by connecting with the parent, and providing meaningful carry over strategies. Susan utilizes a play based approach to therapy, scaffolding children’s emerging skills in a fun and engaging way.
Susan specializes in the treatment of apraxia of speech, speech sound disorders, and receptive/expressive language delays. She has experience working with low and high tech AAC (augmentative alternative communication) options as well, including core boards, picture exchange systems and speech generating devices.
Susan lives in the East End of Pittsburgh, with her three children and a Great Dane. When she’s not wrangling the chaos of three kids, she enjoys spending time with friends, buying plants she doesn’t have room for, and city living!
